Bromeliad. Heliconia. Orchid. Lantana. Passion. These are the Costa Rican local flowers that surround and name each of the five eco-luxury cabins of Drake Bay Getaway Resort in the remote, pristine Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. Located at the southern end of Costa Rica's Pacific Coast is the Corcovado National Park, which encompasses almost half of the Osa Peninsula. The park is home of the largest remaining population of jaguars and tapirs in Costa Rica. Bahia Drake, where the Drake Bay Getaway Resort is located, has a vibrant local village and 17km of untampered coast line, leading to the entrance of the National Park.
The local flowers, bursting with scent and color, line the memories of co-owner, Yens Steller’s Costa Rican childhood growing up in Osa. After years of living and working in the high-tech business world of Seattle, Washington in the U.S., Yens and his partner, Patrick Ludwig made their dreams a reality by creating a singular, eco-luxurious resort for the discerning guest who wants the benefits of an untouched natural environment along with impeccable, personalized hotel service. The underlying mantra of the Drake Bay Getaway Resort promotes, “the business of happiness” where a complete melding of the body, mind and spirit occurs in the midst of some of the most breathtaking rainforest and ocean life in the world.
Drake Bay Getaway Resort, winner of the 2017 Americas Award for Luxury Resort of the Year, offers a wide palette of selective services for each guest, from the subtle ambiance for the honeymooning couple where every need is anticipated to catered family-friendly activities, so that the resort becomes each guest’s personally designed paradise. A plethora of tours and activities are planned to the specific taste of the guest.
Each of the five eco-designed luxury cabins, on the hilltop, provides stunning vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Corcovado National Park and the Drake Bay jungle. There are three stand-alone cabins and two cabins are in a two-story building. They are all located about 600 feet from the beach (a 5 minute-walk). These beautiful cabins offer breathtaking views while cocooned within the birdsong of the rainforest. Each cabin has a covered, open air deck and yoga mats for serene meditation, a full blown yoga session or as a resting place after a blissful in-room massage by our stellar masseuse.
What Drake Bay Getaway Resort allows each guest to do is to leave the noise of the world at their doorstep and enter the magical universe of a curated natural experience in one of the most breathtakingly unspoiled areas of Costa Rica. As a guest, you are able to revel in the resplendent smell of ocean air as butterflies flutter past your balcony; slowing peeling away life’s tensions as you melt into your luminous surroundings. While “unplugging,” each guest can rest and nourish themselves with a personalized surprise - unique meals based on their taste buds’ whims and desires; all made from fresh locally sourced ingredients, including locally caught seafood from Drake Bay.
Yens and Patrick’s goal is to provide each guest with an enchanted, personalized eco-luxury experience while maintaining their commitment to sustainability and supporting their local community.
